Summary, etc. ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಪರಿಷತ್ತಿನ ಶತಮಾನೋತ್ಸವದ ಮಹತ್ವಾಕಾಂಕ್ಷೆಯ ಯೋಜನೆಯಾದ ‘ಆಧುನಿಕ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಚರಿತ್ರೆ’ಯ 10ನೆಯ ಸಂಪುಟವಾಗಿ "ಅನುವಾದ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ" ಪ್ರಕಟವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಖ್ಯಾತ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರಾದ ಡಾ. ಎ. ಮೋಹನ ಕುಂಟಾರ್ ಅವರು ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಸಂಪಾದಕರಾಗಿ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಿತವಾಗಿ ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಸುಮಾರು ಎರಡು ಶತಮಾನಗಳ ದೀರ್ಘ ಕಾಲಾವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿರುವ ಅಗಾಧವಾದ ಅನುವಾದಿತ ಗ್ರಂಥರಾಶಿಯನ್ನು ಇದು ಸಮಗ್ರವಾಗಿ ದಾಖಲಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.<br/>ಅನುವಾದ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಇತಿಹಾಸ: ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯವು ಆರಂಭದಿಂದಲೂ (ಶಾಸನಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಹಳಗನ್ನಡದ ಕಾಲದಿಂದ) ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತ ಮೂಲದ ಕೃತಿಗಳನ್ನು ದೇಶೀಕರಣಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಬೆಳೆದು ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕವು ವಸಾಹತುಶಾಹಿ ಯುಗದಿಂದ ಹಿಡಿದು ಇಂದಿನ ಆಧುನಿಕ ಕಾಲದವರೆಗಿನ ಪಾಶ್ಚಾತ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಭಾಷೆಗಳಿಂದ ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದ ಅನುವಾದಗಳ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಚರ್ಚಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.ಅನುಸೃಷ್ಟಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮರುರೂಪ: ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನುವಾದವೆಂದರೆ ಕೇವಲ ಮೂಲ ಕೃತಿಯ 'ಮಕ್ಕಿಕಾ ಮಕ್ಕಿ' ನಕಲಲ್ಲ. ಅದು ಕುವೆಂಪು, ಬಿ.ಎಂ.ಶ್ರೀ, ಬೇಂದ್ರೆ ಮುಂತಾದ ಮಹನೀಯರ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಗೆ ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರ ಸೃಜನಾತ್ಮಕ ರೂಪ ಅಥವಾ 'ಅನುಸೃಷ್ಟಿ' (Recreation) ಮತ್ತುರೂಪಾಂತರ' (Adaptation) ಆಗಿ ಬದಲಾಯಿತು ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಸಾಕ್ಷ್ಯಾಧಾರಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ವಿಶ್ಲೇಷಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.ವಿವಿಧ ಪ್ರಕಾರಗಳ ಅನುವಾದ: ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ನಾಟಕಗಳು, ಕಾದಂಬರಿಗಳು, ವೈಚಾರಿಕ ಕೃತಿಗಳು, ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಕಾವ್ಯಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಬೈಬಲ್, ಭಗವದ್ಗೀತೆ, ಖುರಾನ್ ನಂತಹ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಗ್ರಂಥಗಳು ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಭಾಷಾಂತರಗೊಂಡು ಕನ್ನಡದ ಸೃಜನಶೀಲತೆಯನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತಗೊಳಿಸಿದವು ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಈ ಸಂಪುಟದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿವರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಗಳ ಸಂವಹನ: ಅನುವಾದ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಕೇವಲ ಭಾಷಾ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲ, ಅದು ಎರಡು ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಸೇತುವೆಯಾಗಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಮಲಯಾಳಂ, ತಮಿಳು, ತೆಲುಗು ಹಾಗೂ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಭಾಷೆಗಳಿಂದ ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಕೃತಿಗಳು ಬಂದಾಗ ಉಂಟಾದ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ವಿನಿಮಯವನ್ನು ಡಾ. ಮೋಹನ ಕುಂಟಾರ್ ಅವರು ತಜ್ಞರ ಲೇಖನಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ
