Summary, etc. As transnational corporations and western governments entrench their policies and priorities worldwide and the statistics on the global havoc this creates continue to pour in, the search for alternative modes of human-centered and sustainable development takes on even greater urgency.New Perspectives for Intercultural Dialogue and an Alternative Economic Order represents a response by scholars and thinkers from the Philippines, Libya, India, Korea and Japan to the pressing issues of cultural domination, reflecting the need for intercultural dialogue and the development of alternatives to the existing world order. This collection of articles is the fruit of two international roundtables organized by the Jamahir Society for Culture & Philosophy, an international non-governmental organization headquartered in Vienna The first, held in Tripoli, Libya, addressed the question: Is an Alternative Economic Order Possible? The second held in Quezon City, the Philippines, discussed Cultural Imperialism and the People's Response in the Asia-Pacific. The conferences sought to provide the widest range of free expression possible to thinkers committed to alternative development.
